The History of Slot Machines |
Charles Fey created the first automatic slot machine in 1887 and he is considered to be the inventor of it. There were not many slot machines that were spread between different casinos. The owner of slot machine had about a half of its profit. A quite spread opinion would dictate bulky and heavy machines in the early years. In actuality, they appeared similar to modern slot machines. Also, symbols were various back then; fruit images appeared later as these entertainment machines began to branch out. Moreover being its inventor, Charles Fey also traded and deliver slot machines to businesses as well. The very first machine was called the “Liberty Bell.”. A developing trend, Charles Fey was revolutionizing the early gambling industry with this primitive game.
In 1907 Charles Fey made a contract with Mills Novelty Company and they began producing a huge amount of slot machines. Mills Liberty Bell had been the first modification. The first fruit symbol slot machine was called Operator Bell. That was designed by Mills Company 3 years later. The first slot machines weighted a lot, so it was a very complicated task to transport the slot machine from one casino to another. Mills Company had to solve this complexion, so in 1915 they designed the wood cabinet slot machine.
